How to use the classroom timer

Turn the beep on only when helpful
The end-of-timer beep is optional and off by default — turn it on for activities where a sound cue helps.
How the classroom timer works
Pick a quick preset or enter a custom number of minutes and seconds, then press Start, or switch to Stopwatch to count up. The time is shown in large numbers with a ring or a bar, and Show on board opens it full screen with optional voice-level and work-mode signs.
Pause stops the countdown exactly where it is, and Resume picks up from that same point. Reset returns the display to your chosen time without starting it again.
The time is worked out from the clock rather than by counting ticks, so the display stays correct even if the tab was in the background. The optional end beep uses only your browser's built-in audio, is off unless you turn it on, and may sound a little late if the tab is hidden, so keep the timer on screen when the sound matters.

Does it run accurately if I switch to another tab?
The countdown stays accurate: the time is worked out from the clock, so it is correct when you come back to the tab. Only the end beep can be delayed in a hidden tab, so keep the timer on screen if you rely on the sound.
Does the beep play automatically?
No. The end-of-timer beep is optional and off by default. Turn on the checkbox before starting if you want a gentle sound when the timer for classroom activities reaches zero.
Do I need to allow notifications or permissions?
