Set the school-year range first

Mark days consistently
Decide up front how you'll treat weekends and breaks (usually left blank) so month-to-month totals stay comparable.
Use Half day sparingly and on purpose
Reserve Half day for genuinely shortened sessions — it counts as an instructional day but only half toward the attendance rate.
Print or export each month as you go

The tracker builds a real calendar grid for the month you're viewing. Clicking a date cycles it through four statuses — Present, Absent, Half day, and No school — and clicking again clears it. Every mark is colored and lettered so a filled-in month is easy to scan.

Totals are computed directly from the days you've marked: instructional days are Present, Absent, and Half day combined (No school is excluded), and the attendance rate divides days attended (a Half day counts as half) by instructional days. The same math runs for the month you're viewing and for your full school-year range.
