Tips for better results

  • Start with direct clues

Direct clues that name a person outright are the easiest place to start filling in the table.

  • Use cross-category clues to eliminate, not just confirm

A clue like "the one with the red spinner has a dog" links two categories directly — use it to rule out combinations even before you know which name is involved.

  • No clue is ever extra

Every clue is proven necessary — removing any single one would leave the puzzle with more than one possible answer, so if you're stuck, re-read all of them.

  • Regenerate for a fresh puzzle

Press Regenerate for a brand-new puzzle with a different, equally solvable clue set.

Under the hood

How the logic grid puzzle generator works

The generator picks a random solution — which color and which animal goes with each name — then builds a set of true clues about it. Clues are added one at a time from every true statement about the solution, skipping any clue that doesn't narrow down the possibilities, until an exhaustive search across every possible matching confirms exactly one solution is consistent with the clues so far.

The clue set is then pruned: any clue that turns out to not be needed once the others are in place is removed, so the final puzzle never includes a clue that adds no information.

Everything is generated on your device, so you can make as many fresh puzzles as you like, instantly and for free. Press Regenerate for a brand-new puzzle using the same settings.

Frequently asked questions

Is the logic grid puzzle generator free?

Yes, completely free, with no account and no limit on how many puzzles you make. There's no watermark on the printed sheet.

Can I print logic grid puzzles?

Yes. Use the Print button to send the puzzle straight to your printer.

Can I download a PDF?

Yes. Download a clean PDF built on your device, with the clues and blank table on the first page and the filled-in answer key on its own page.

Is every puzzle actually solvable?

Yes. Every puzzle's clue set is checked by an exhaustive search over every possible matching, confirming exactly one solution is consistent with all the clues — never zero, and never more than one.

Are there ever extra clues that aren't needed?

No. The clue set is pruned so every remaining clue is necessary — removing any one of them would make the puzzle ambiguous.

Are worksheet settings or answers uploaded or saved anywhere?

No. The puzzle is built entirely on your device, and the PDF is created there too — nothing is ever uploaded or stored on a server.
