Ruler Reader Game
Free ruler game: read lengths on a real-size ruler in inches or centimeters, from whole units to eighths or millimeters, then drag a strip to an exact length.
Level 1 asks you to pick the length of a pencil or strip ending on a numbered mark. Levels 2 and 3 ask you to type it: halves and quarters of an inch, then eighths (or half centimeters, then millimeters). Level 4 moves the object off 0, the broken-ruler skill. Level 5 turns it around: drag the end of a strip until it is the length asked. Typed answers accept 3 1/4, 3.25, 7.5 and 7,5.
Pick the length: every object ends on a numbered mark.
Not a test — nothing is saved after you leave.
Read the ruler
Read lengths on a real-size ruler, from whole units to millimeters or eighths of an inch, then drag a strip to an exact length.
How to use the ruler reader game

- 2Read where the object ends; at Level 4, read both ends and subtract.
- 3Pick or type the length and press Check (Enter works too).
- 4At Level 5, drag the strip's end or use the arrow keys, then press Check. A round is 8 questions.
When this is useful
First measuring lessons
Level 1 adds dotted guide lines from the object down to the ruler.
Fractions on a ruler
Levels 2 and 3 connect the marks to halves, quarters and eighths of an inch.
The broken-ruler skill
Level 4 objects start at 1 to 4: counting units instead of reading the last number.
Pair with the worksheet
The Ruler Measurement Worksheet Generator prints the same skills at real size.
Examples to try
Level 1
A pencil from 0 to 4 → 4 in.
Level 3
A strip ending three eighth-marks past 2 → 2 3/8 in.
Level 4
From 2 cm to 9.5 cm → 7.5 cm.
Tips for better results
Start at 0, not at the edge
The drawn ruler has a small margin before 0, like a real one.
Count spaces, not marks
From 2 to 9 is 7 spaces, not 8 marks.
Simplify fractions
4/8 of an inch is 1/2; the game accepts either.
How the ruler reader game works
The ruler is drawn at real size from the same geometry as the Ruler Measurement Worksheet Generator. Every object ends exactly on a mark at the chosen level, so answers are exact. Typed answers are read as fractions or decimals, with a point or a comma. Rounds are generated on your device with a seeded generator.
Private by design
- No account and no sign-up. Just open it and start.
- Everything runs on your device, which keeps the lengths you type or drag during a round private.
- Nothing you create is uploaded. No values, names, scores, or generated content are sent to our servers. If you're signed in, My Classeem's Recent Activity notes which tools you used — never what you did in them.
- We use Google Analytics for anonymous, aggregate measurement: page views and a few usage events, such as a worksheet being printed or a game round starting or finishing (with the mode played). It never receives what you enter — no answers, scores, names, or generated content.
