Tips for better results

  • Start with short sentences for younger students

Three to five words keep the task achievable and the page calm for early learners.

  • Use familiar sight words

Sentences built from words students already know let them focus on word order.

  • Keep custom sentences short

Shorter sentences wrap cleanly and keep the word tiles easy to read.

  • Add punctuation once word order is solid

Introduce the punctuation and question sets after students are comfortable ordering words.

  • Use word tiles for hands-on practice

The tile layout looks like cards students can cut out and rearrange before writing.

  • Print the answer key separately

The PDF puts the key on its own page, so it is easy to keep it apart from student copies.

Under the hood

How the sentence scramble worksheet generator works

You pick a built-in set or paste your own sentences, and the generator builds the worksheet on your device. Custom sentences are entered one per line, and the tool trims spaces, drops blank lines, caps long sentences, and removes duplicates so the page stays clean.

Each sentence is split into words, with punctuation kept attached to its word, and the word order is shuffled with a seeded shuffle that avoids landing on the original order. The same settings always give the same worksheet, and Regenerate makes a fresh scramble. The answer key restores each original sentence exactly, so it is always correct. Word tiles show the words as boxes with a writing line, blanks give one line per word, and rewrite gives a full line for the whole sentence.

There is no AI and no internet call. Everything is generated and laid out in your browser, so you can print or save as many worksheets as you like, instantly and for free. Your custom sentences are never uploaded or stored.

Your data

Private by design

  • No account and no sign-up. Just open it and start.
  • Everything runs on your device, so the worksheet title, settings, and any custom sentences you type, along with the worksheets and answer keys you create stays with you.
  • Nothing you create is uploaded. No values, names, scores, or generated content are sent to our servers.
  • We use Google Analytics only for basic, anonymous pageview counts. It never receives what you enter into the tool.
