Attendance Calculator
Calculate attendance in seconds. Find the attendance percentage from classes attended and total classes, see how many absences remain before a target percentage is missed, or find exactly how much attendance is still needed to reach a goal. Free, private, and ready to print.
This free attendance calculator has three modes — percentage, absences remaining, and attendance needed — all built on the same exact math, so a school's own attendance policy can be checked instantly without spreadsheets or manual arithmetic.
Enter classes attended and total classes to see the percentage.
How to use the attendance calculator
- 1Pick a mode: percentage, absences remaining, or attendance needed.
- 2Enter classes attended and total classes to see the live percentage.
- 3Switch to absences remaining to see how many more absences are allowed before a target percentage is missed.
- 4Switch to attendance needed to see exactly how much attendance is required for the rest of the term to hit a goal.
- 5Print a clean summary any time — nothing is uploaded or saved.
When this is useful
Check a current attendance rate
Enter classes attended and total classes to see exactly where a student stands right now.
See how many absences are left
Find the exact number of additional absences allowed before a required attendance percentage is missed.
Plan the rest of the term
Work out precisely how much attendance is needed for the remaining classes to still hit a target.
Check school or district policy
Test different targets — 90%, 95%, or whatever a school's policy requires — against real numbers.
Share attendance context quickly
Get a clear percentage or count to explain attendance status to a family or administrator.
Examples to try
A quick percentage check
Enter 32 classes attended out of 40 total to see the percentage and absence rate instantly.
Absences remaining before a target slips
Enter total classes, absences so far, and a target percentage to see the exact number of absences still allowed.
Attendance needed to reach a goal
Enter attendance so far, classes remaining, and a target to see exactly how many of the remaining classes are needed.
Tips for better results
Match the target to the real policy
Use the exact percentage a school or district requires (often 90% or 95%), not a rounded guess.
Recount total classes carefully
Include every scheduled class session in the term, not just the ones attended, for an accurate percentage.
Re-check after each absence
Attendance needed and absences remaining both change every time a new absence happens — re-run the numbers regularly.
Treat it as planning help
Use the numbers to plan ahead and flag concerns early. A school's official attendance system is always the record of truth.
How the attendance calculator works
The percentage mode divides classes attended by total classes. The absences-remaining mode works out the maximum absences a target percentage allows over the full term, then subtracts the absences already recorded. The attendance-needed mode solves for exactly how many of the remaining classes must be attended to still reach the target by the end of the term.
All three modes run on the same shared, unit-tested calculation used by Classeem's Spanish and Portuguese attendance calculators, so the math is identical across every version of the tool.
Everything updates instantly as numbers are typed, so there's nothing to submit and nothing to wait for.
Private by design
- No account and no sign-up. Just open it and start.
- Everything runs on your device, so the class counts and target percentages entered stays with you.
- Nothing you create is uploaded. No values, names, scores, or generated content are sent to our servers.
- We use Google Analytics only for basic, anonymous pageview counts. It never receives what you enter into the tool.
Frequently asked questions
How is attendance percentage calculated?
Classes attended is divided by total classes, then converted to a percentage. It's the same simple math used by most school attendance systems.
How does the absences-remaining mode work?
It works out the maximum number of absences a target percentage allows across the full term, then subtracts the absences already recorded, so it's clear exactly how much room is left.
How does the attendance-needed mode work?
Given attendance so far, classes remaining, and a target percentage, it solves for the exact number of remaining classes that need to be attended to still hit that target by the end of the term.
What if the target is already secured or no longer reachable?
Both cases are flagged clearly — if attendance already guarantees the target, it says so, and if the target is mathematically impossible to reach even with perfect attendance from here, it says that too.
Can students and families use this too?
Yes. It's built with teachers and attendance staff in mind, but students and families can use it just as easily to check a current rate or plan ahead. No account needed.
Is my data saved or sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs entirely in the browser, so nothing typed here is uploaded, stored on a server, or shared. Close the tab and it's gone.
