A grade is points earned ÷ points possible × 100. In a weighted class, multiply each category's average by its weight and add the results: tests at 90% (weight 40%), homework 95% (25%), quizzes 85% (20%), and participation 100% (15%) give 36 + 23.75 + 17 + 15 = 91.75%, an A− on a plus/minus scale.

Match each category's weight to the syllabus; if they don't total 100%, the calculator balances them for you.
Enter every graded item

Use points when assignments are worth different amounts; use percentages when each should count the same.

How the grade calculator works
In weighted mode, each category's average is worked out from its scores (points earned over points possible, or the average of percentages), multiplied by the category's weight, and added up. If the weights don't total 100%, they're scaled proportionally, and categories without scores yet are left out, so a half-finished term still shows a realistic current grade.
In simple mode, every point counts the same: the grade is total points earned divided by total points possible. Enter percentages instead and every assignment counts equally.
The letter comes from the scale you choose: A–F with plus and minus, a 90/80/70/60 scale, your own cutoffs, or percent only. Everything updates as you type.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my grade?
Divide the points you've earned by the points possible and multiply by 100. If your class weights categories, work out each category's average first, multiply each by its weight, and add them. The calculator does both: pick simple average or weighted categories.
How is a weighted grade calculated?
Each category's average is multiplied by its weight, and the results are added together. Classeem normalizes your weights automatically, so the math is correct even if your weights don't add up to exactly 100%.
What's the difference between a weighted and a simple average?
In a simple average every point counts the same, so a 100-point test matters ten times more than a 10-point quiz. In a weighted grade, each category has a fixed share of the grade no matter how many points it holds.
What if I haven't entered every assignment yet?
The calculator only counts categories that have at least one scored item, then re-balances the remaining weights. That gives you a realistic current grade partway through a term.
Which grading scale does it use?
You choose. It starts on an A–F scale with plus and minus grades (A from 93, A− from 90, and so on), and you can switch to a 90/80/70/60 scale, percent only, or your own cutoffs. Schools set their own scales, so use the one in your syllabus.
How do I find out what I need on my final exam?
