When it helps

When this is useful

Find a current grade

Enter the scores you have so far to see exactly where a student stands partway through the term.

Plan for the final exam

Work out the precise score needed on the final to reach a target grade. No guesswork.

Check weighted categories

Set the weight of tests, homework, quizzes, and participation to see how each one moves the grade.

See if a target is reachable

Find out whether an A or B is still possible, or already locked in, before the last assignment.

Plan assignment recovery

Model what happens to the grade when a missing assignment comes in, so students know where to focus.

In practice

Examples to try

A current-grade check

Add a few test and homework scores to see the live percentage and letter grade.

A final-exam “what do I need?”

Enter the final's weight and a target grade, and the solver tells you the score required.

A weighted-category setup

Give tests 40%, homework 25%, quizzes 20%, and participation 15% to mirror a real syllabus.

Target-grade planning

Try different target grades to see how the required score on the final changes.

A reality check

Spot when a target is no longer reachable, or already secured no matter what, so there are no surprises.

Tips for better results

  • Double-check your weights

Match each category's weight to the syllabus; if they don't total 100%, the calculator balances them for you.

  • Enter every graded item

Include all scored assignments for an accurate current grade. Leaving some out changes the result.

  • Use the right final weight

Enter the final exam's share of the overall grade (for example 20%), not the points it's worth.

  • Remember rounding rules

Schools round and set cutoffs differently, so a borderline result may land on either side at your school.

  • Treat it as planning help

Use the numbers to set goals and plan ahead. Your school's gradebook is always the official record.

Under the hood

How the weighted grade calculator works

The calculator works out each category's average from the scores you enter, then multiplies it by that category's weight and adds the results together. If your weights don't add up to exactly 100%, it scales them for you, so the math stays correct even partway through a term.

The “what do I need on the final?” solver runs the same math in reverse. Given your current grade, the final's weight, and the grade you're aiming for, it solves for the score you'd need on the final, and it flags when a target is already secured or no longer reachable.

Everything updates instantly as you type, so there's nothing to submit and nothing to wait for.

Your data

Private by design

  • No account and no sign-up. Just open it and start.
  • Everything runs on your device, so the scores and category names you enter stays with you.
  • Nothing you create is uploaded. No values, names, scores, or generated content are sent to our servers.
  • We use Google Analytics only for basic, anonymous pageview counts. It never receives what you enter into the tool.

Frequently asked questions

How is a weighted grade calculated?

Each category's average is multiplied by its weight, and the results are added together. Classeem normalizes your weights automatically, so the math is correct even if your weights don't add up to exactly 100%.

What if I haven't entered every assignment yet?

The calculator only counts categories that have at least one scored item, then re-balances the remaining weights. That gives you a realistic current grade partway through a term.

How does the “what do I need on the final?” solver work?

Enter your final's weight and a target grade, and it solves for the exact score you'd need on the final. It also tells you if the target is already secured or no longer reachable.

Can students and parents use this too?

Yes. It's built with teachers in mind, but students and parents can use it just as easily to check a current grade or plan for a final. No account needed.

Which grading scale does it use?

It uses a standard US A–F scale with plus and minus grades, and works with both points-based and percentage scores. If your school uses different cutoffs, treat the letter grade as a close guide.

Can I print or share the result?

Yes. Use Print for a clean summary, or copy the result to paste into an email or message. A shareable link keeps your entries in the URL only, never on a server.

Is my data saved or sent anywhere?

No. Everything runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you type is uploaded, stored on a server, or shared. Close the tab and it's gone.
