Number Sequence Challenge Game
Play a free number sequence game right in your browser. Each round shows 4 terms of a sequence and asks what comes next — a counting pattern (constant difference), a multiplying pattern (constant ratio), or square numbers, with a mixed mode that blends all three. Score points, build a streak, and see your accuracy at the end of each round. No sign-up, and nothing is saved.
A free number sequence pattern game with three genuinely different pattern families — no sign-up, and nothing is saved after you leave.
Not a test — nothing is saved after you leave.
Ready to spot the pattern?
Figure out what comes next in each number sequence.
How to use the number sequence challenge game
- 1Choose a pattern type — mixed, counting, multiplying, or square numbers — and a level.
- 2Press Start round to begin.
- 3Read the 4 numbers shown, type what comes next, and submit.
- 4See your score, accuracy, and best streak at the end of the round.
When this is useful
Spotting counting patterns
Practice finding the constant difference between terms in a counting pattern, including negative and larger steps at higher levels.
Spotting multiplying patterns
Practice recognizing when each term is multiplied by the same number to get the next.
Square numbers
Practice recognizing the sequence of square numbers (1, 4, 9, 16...) starting from different points.
Mixed pattern review
Blend all three pattern types in one round so students have to identify the pattern type themselves, not just apply one rule.
Math centers and warm-ups
A quick, self-scoring pattern game for a center, warm-up, or a few spare minutes.
Examples to try
Level 1 mixed practice
Small positive numbers across all three pattern types — a gentle introduction.
Level 2 with negative steps
Counting patterns can count down as well as up, and numbers get a bit bigger.
Level 3 challenge
Bigger numbers, more ratios for multiplying patterns, and a longer run of square numbers.
Tips for better results
Check the difference or ratio first
Subtract consecutive terms to test for a counting pattern, or divide them to test for a multiplying pattern, before guessing.
Watch for square numbers
If the terms grow faster than a constant difference or ratio would explain, check whether they're perfect squares.
Streaks build on quick, correct answers
A short streak bonus rewards a run of correct answers in a row — a wrong answer resets it, so steady accuracy beats rushing.
Session best isn't saved
The score shown is just for this browser session — nothing is stored, so every visit starts fresh.
How the number sequence challenge game works
Each round is built from one of three genuinely different rules — a constant difference, a constant integer ratio, or consecutive square numbers — so the 5th term is always derived by the exact same rule that produced the 4 shown terms, never a guess.
Scoring rewards both correctness and consistency: a short streak of correct answers in a row earns a small bonus on top of the base points, and a wrong answer resets the streak without losing your score.

Private by design
- No account and no sign-up. Just open it and start.
- Everything runs on your device, so the pattern type and level you choose, and the answers you submit during a round stays with you.
- Nothing you create is uploaded. No values, names, scores, or generated content are sent to our servers.
- We use Google Analytics only for basic, anonymous pageview counts. It never receives what you enter into the tool.
Frequently asked questions
Is the number sequence game free?
Yes, completely free, with no account and no limit on how many rounds you play.
Is my score saved?
No. The session-best score shown is only for your current browser session — it's gone as soon as you leave or refresh the page.
What pattern types are included?
Counting patterns (a constant difference between terms), multiplying patterns (a constant ratio), and square numbers, plus a mixed mode that blends all three.
Can the counting pattern count down?
Yes, starting at level 2. The difference between terms can be negative, so the sequence decreases instead of increases.
Is there a time limit?
No. Take as long as you need on each round — this is a pattern-recognition game, not a speed drill.
Is sound required?
No. Sound is off by default and entirely optional — turn it on or off anytime with the sound toggle.
