ABC Order Game
Free ABC order game: tap words into alphabetical order, pick which of two words comes first, and find where a word fits — first letters to third letters.
Three ways to practise alphabetical order. Line Up shows four or five shuffled words to tap into a line, with Undo. Which Comes First? shows two words and, after the answer, highlights the letter that decided it — “both start with c, so look at the next letter: a and u”. Find the Spot shows a line already in order and asks where one more word goes. Level 1 sorts by first letter, Level 2 reaches the second letter, Level 3 the third letter and beyond, each from 60+ original words.
Tap the words one by one in ABC order to build the line.
Not a test — nothing is saved after you leave.

How to use the abc order game
- 1Choose Line Up, Which Comes First?, Find the Spot, or Mixed, and a level.
- 2In Line Up, tap the words one by one in ABC order; Undo takes the last one back; check when the line is full.
- 3In Which Comes First?, tap the word that comes first; the feedback highlights the deciding letter in both words.
- 4In Find the Spot, tap the gap where the new word belongs; the finished line shows each word's deciding letter.
When this is useful
First-letter order in kindergarten and grade 1
Level 1 words all start with different letters, so the only question is the alphabet itself (CCSS RF.1.1 / L.1.2 word work).
Second and third letters in grades 1–3
Levels 2 and 3 are built from groups that share a first letter or a two-letter start, the dictionary skill tested in grade 2–3 (L.2.2e, L.3.2g).
The deciding letter, shown not told
After every pair the letter that settled the order is highlighted in both words — the step students skip when they only compare first letters.
Dictionary and index readiness
Find the Spot is the dictionary move: a line is already in order and one word has to be slotted in.
Projector-friendly
Big word chips and two-word choices suit a whole-class round with students calling the order.
Examples to try
Line Up, Level 1
hat, cat, sun, pig → cat, hat, pig, sun.
Which Comes First?, Level 2
cup or cat? Both start with c; the next letters are a and u — cat comes first.
Find the Spot, Level 3
shell, ship, shut and the word shop: it goes between ship and shut.
Feedback
Both words show the deciding letter highlighted, so “ship / shop” points at i and o.
Tips for better results
Say the alphabet to the letter you need
Students who can't recall whether m comes before p should sing to it; Level 1 is that practice.
Cover the first letter
For Level 2, cover the shared first letter with a finger and compare what's left — the game's highlight shows the same idea.
Play Which Comes First? before Line Up
Pairs isolate one decision; lines combine several.

How the abc order game works
Each language has three original word tiers of 60+ words: Level 1 with many different initials, Level 2 built from groups sharing an initial, Level 3 from groups sharing a two-letter start (with ñ, ç and accented letters in Spanish and Portuguese). Words are picked so the tier's letter is the one that decides.
Sorting uses the same comparison as the ABC order worksheet: plain A–Z for English and Indonesian, Spanish with ñ between n and o and accents ignored, Portuguese with ç sorted as c and accents ignored.
A round is 8 items; correct answers score 10 points plus a small streak bonus. Line Up counts as correct only when the whole line is right, and the feedback shows the correct line with each deciding letter marked.
Private by design
- No account and no sign-up. Just open it and start.
- Everything runs on your device, so the words you tap and the order you build during a round stays with you.
- Nothing you create is uploaded. No values, names, scores, or generated content are sent to our servers. If you're signed in, My Classeem's Recent Activity notes which tools you used — never what you did in them.
- We use Google Analytics for anonymous, aggregate measurement: page views and a few usage events, such as a worksheet being printed or a game round starting or finishing (with the mode played). It never receives what you enter — no answers, scores, names, or generated content.
