Practice mode is untimed with no hearts, so you can take as long as you need. Challenge mode gives you 3 hearts — an incorrect word costs one — plus a growing score bonus the longer your correct-answer streak runs.
Everything runs in your browser. "Hear the word" and "Hear it in a sentence" play clear recorded audio for the built-in word lists, and use the best voice your device offers for a word list of your own; "Slower" replays at a slower pace. The game never depends on audio — the clue and the typed answer are always enough to play.
Private by design
- No account and no sign-up. Just open it and start.
- Everything runs on your device, which keeps any custom words or clues you type and your answers private.
- Nothing you create is uploaded. No values, names, scores, or generated content are sent to our servers. If you're signed in, My Classeem's Recent Activity notes which tools you used — never what you did in them.
- We use Google Analytics for anonymous, aggregate measurement: page views and a few usage events, such as a worksheet being printed or a game round starting or finishing (with the mode played). It never receives what you enter — no answers, scores, names, or generated content.
Frequently asked questions
Can the whole class play in teams?
Yes. Turn on Team mode above the game for 2–6 teams that take turns spelling: a correct spelling scores a point for the team whose turn it is, then the turn passes on, and the winner shows when the bee ends. Team names and scores stay on this page only.
Is this spelling bee game free?
Yes, completely free, with no account and no limit on how many rounds you play. There are no ads.
Is this an online spelling test game?
It's a practice game, not a graded test. It gives a clue sentence, checks your spelling instantly, and tracks your streak and score for the current session — nothing is recorded or reported.
How is this different from just showing the word?
Each word comes from a short clue sentence with the word left out, so you spell from context and meaning — much closer to how a real spelling bee works than copying a word off the screen.
Can I use my own spelling list?
Yes. Turn on "Use my own word list" and paste your words, one per line. Add an optional clue after a colon, like "harvest: Farmers ___ crops in the fall."
Does it read the words aloud?
Yes. "Hear the word" says the word and "Hear it in a sentence" says it in its clue sentence, which helps with words that sound alike, such as their and there. The built-in word lists use recorded audio; your own words use the best voice your device has. Turn on "Slower" to hear it at a slower pace. The game stays fully playable without audio.
What's the difference between Practice and Challenge?
Practice is untimed with no hearts, so you can take your time. Challenge gives you 3 hearts — the round ends when they run out — plus a streak bonus for spelling several words in a row correctly.
Does this use AI?
No. This is a browser-only spelling game with an original word bank. It does not use AI, and the game runs on your device.
Are scores or word lists saved?
No. Your session's score and any custom word list stay in your browser and are cleared when you leave the page. Nothing is uploaded or stored on a server.
